“Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality.”-Warren G. Bennis

Though the bar has been raised this year, this does not stop the Municipality of Sogod, Cebu ,under the dynamic leadership of Mayor Lissa Marie “Moonyeen” Durano-Streegan, to get the  SGLG 2018 Award.

The Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) is a national recognition given to an Local Government Unit (LGU) that carries good governance practices and worthy performance in public service. It originated from the Seal of Good Housekeeping award that piloted in 2010 initiated by DILG. This year, the bar has been raised. The LGU must pass all the seven criteria under the “all-in” scheme unlike the previous year “4+1”assessment criteria . It’s all or nothing. A challenged posed by DILG OIC-Secretary Eduardo M. Ano to the LGUs.

The four core components are: (1) Financial Administration; (2) Disaster Preparedness; (3) Social Protection; and (4) Peace and Order. The other three essential areas include (1) Business-Friendliness and Competitiveness; (2) Environmental Management; (3) Tourism, Culture, and the Arts.

It kicked off last April 2018 and expected to award the qualifiers this October 2018. Assessment was done by the national validators team through on-site visitation & observation, inspection of documents and interviews . This is not the first time for LGU Sogod since they were also a SGLG  awardee last year.

Once again, kudos to the Municipality of Sogod! Indeed, it’s SO GOOD…
