HISTORY
There was once a sickly boy from Samar who had a dreamed of the “Birhen sa Lourdes” telling him to let his parents pitched some water from the Binaliw Spring in the Municipality of Sogod. The parents did what their son told them and the boy got healed. News about the healing power of the Binaliw Spring spread rapidly.

The place is called Binaliw Spring since the water is divided into two. One is flowing downstream while the other half flows in upward direction. That is why the local forefathers or the ancestors thought the water was “Gibaliw”and later on known as Binaliw.
